Frequently Asked Questions
Can’t I just call you when I have a problem and skip the monthly fee?
The most efficient way to solve problems is to prevent them from happening in the first place. I would much rather take proactive steps to keep your website up-to-date and secure than have to deal with it after it has been hacked or something breaks. My hourly rate is $150 and it can often take several hours or more to fix a site, especially if I haven’t been actively maintaining it. Having a monthly or annual agreement allows me to dedicate the time to your website to prevent problems from arising in the first place, and it also ensures that you won’t be charged any extra if something does happen.
Is this a good deal?
That is up to you. What is it worth to your organization to have someone that you know and trust on call to support your website? I will walk with you every step of the way, answering your questions, preventing problems, and fixing anything that breaks. I understand that everyone’s budget is different, and I never want to assume whether this is affordable or not for clients. For most organizations, their websites are critical to their operations and they are able to set aside some funds for maintenance and support.
What if I want to find my own hosting?
No problem. If you’d like to assume responsibility for your website, I’ll help you transfer it over to whichever webhost you’d like. You will then be fully responsible for running your own backups, security, WordPress updates and troubleshooting. I will no longer be on-call to help with your website. Also, you may need to get a new SSL certificate with your hosting provider, or else visitors may start seeing a big “insecure” warning when they visit your website. I would highly recommend this as a best practice for any website.
